At the regional conference, Fruit Logistics presented as the best model of a cold supply chain in Georgia
The founder of Fruit Logistics, Nino Kapanadze, participated in the regional conference “Cold Chain Management”, organized by USAID, held on November 29-30 at the Sheraton Tbilisi Metechi Palace. The conference participants discussed the main challenges of the fruit and vegetable supply chain, opportunities for implementing quality standards, and retail trade. Also, they talked about the export of fruits and vegetables and the potential markets available for the region. They mentioned the importance of databases as modern business tools and the role of associations in solving problems along the cold chain.
Speaking about the fair model of the cold supply chain, participants of the conference presented Fruit Logistics as the best example of this model in Georgia. It was noted at the event that:
- In October 2021, the company replaced the existing refrigeration space, which was 750 sq.m., and added 3 000 sq.m. space.
- To reduce costs, developed an agricultural production processing line in July 2022.
- In September 2022, to reduce the cost of electricity, the company installed 130 kW of solar panels, which reduced the average monthly electricity cost by 70%.
- Invested 2.5 million dollars from its own and Gazelle Financing.
- Fruit Logistics supplies chain supermarkets with fruits and vegetables.
- The company works with more than 1 000 Georgian farmers.
- The company is completing the implementation process of the ERP system MS Dynamics 365 BC (NAV). Accounting of the product turnover from 2023, will be implemented in the new program.
